Online social networking is not a new phenomenon. It%u2019s been around since the days of dial-up networking with access to your BBS (bulletin board system). Elements of social networking were also found in Apple%u2019s original eWorld and as well as in the earlist days of AOL. But, with the advent of MySpace, Flickr, Digg, Facebook, Linkedin and numerous other websites, a new, era of social networking has begun. What is it about these companies and their websites that create this new experience? How did they become phenomenally successful?
